What is the Industry Learning & Development Advisory service?
The Mining Industry Skills Centre employs a team of industry experts who are tasked with the responsibility of supporting organisations with their skilling needs, and help organisations answer questions such as:
- How do we determine what training our employees need?
- How do we ensure how training is compliant with the legislation?
- Could our Training Management System be improved?
- How can we structure suitable training programs for our employees?
- How do we write training materials?
- How do we develop / review / validate assessments?
- What are the opportunities for us to streamline our induction process?
- How can simulation be used to develop employees
- What can be done to better support people new to the industry?
- What funding is available to support us in providing training?
This free service includes:
- Advisors on the ground in regional areas at least 6 times a year and at sites at least twice per year
- Representing the industry and the Skills Centre on committees run by various stakeholders
- Consolidation of competencies
- Facilitating the sharing of information via network meetings and other ‘hot topic’ forums; and
- The opportunity to provide feedback into the development and refinement of services and products provided by the Skills Centre to the industry

Availability of Advisors:
While our Advisors are currently working in Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory, they regularly conduct work outside of these states at the request of a number of major industry groups. Please contact us if you are outside of these states and would like support.
